The Chase Platinum for Students is a credit card that is issued by Chase and is designed for students with a good credit rating. This is a rewards based credit card, and students can earn points for making purchases on the credit card. One point is awarded for each dollar spent on the credit card, and these points can be redeemed against various types of merchandise and food. Points are valid for a three year period, and the amount of points earned in any year must be equal to or less than the credit limit of the cardholder.

This credit card offers an introductory rate of 0% on both balance transfers and new purchases, and this is for a six month period. There is no annual fee charged on this credit card. The interest rate charged on new purchases once the six month 0% interest period has expired is 15.49 percent variable. For cash advances, students will be charged at 21.49 percent variable.

This student credit card enables cardholder to look forward to a range of benefits in addition to the rewards program. Some of the benefits available include: fraud and security protection, purchase protection, extended warranty for purchases, various discounts at selected retailers, travel accident insurance, car rental insurance, roadside assistance, : Internet account management, lost and stolen card reporting, emergency cash replacement, emergency card replacement, and travel and emergency assistance.

There are late repayment fees on this credit card, which range from $15 to $39 depending on the balance of the credit card. If your credit card account goes over its limit a charge of $35 is applies. For cash advances, there is a three percent or ten dollar fee, and Balance transfers are charged at three percent or five dollars minimum. There is a $75 maximum charge per balance transfer transaction.
