Credit Cards Info user review:

The first review here was rather negative for no good reason. The fact is the person used a "not card present" transaction for their first charge. That usually raises red flags for the issuer. I just applied for this card based on its 1.5% cash back with no limit. It is tiered, but my monthly charges are usually more than the highest tier level. Since I charge a LOT each month and need a good cash rebate on a MC/Visa and this looks like the one.

I have one complaint about this card -- the geniuses at Chase don't seem to be able to correctly calculate the proper cash rebate I should be earning each month. The rules are fairly clear: the more you charge, the higher your rebate percentage (what is not clear up front, is that to get to the highest "tier" in both "everyday" and "other" purchases, you need to spend $6000 in both categories; spending $6000 in total does NOT get you there). It looked to me like some of my rebates were coming in a little light. In one month, it was actually zero. What percentage of a positive number can possibly result in zero? So out of curiosity, I checked each month's rebate calculation since I got the card: in seven months, they've screwed up six times, usually too low (no surprise). Customer Service has been absolutely clueless. Although they're usually willing to put some credit through to correct the most recent month's problem, but in a dozen calls no one has been willing or able to look into why the calculations were incorrect in the first place. Is there anyone else out there who has this card, has successfully completed fifth grade math, and has ever tried to verify Chase's calculations? Is Chase stiffing a huge number of customers out of their promised rebates? I would love to hear from you, whether they've done it right or wrong, at gm755@aol.com -- thanks!

on paper the card looked good, cash back and the rates didnt apply cause i pay the balance every month. i applied for and activated it on line and commenced use. set up numerous accounts for on line payments from the card and had my bank pay the balance on line. on the day the bank electronically paid the first payment, which happened to be new years eve, '04, chase blocked the card, calls me and wants id verification. i thought it was some joke, wanting me to go to my bank and have a teller call them to verify that i am who i say i am or to fax off copies of utilities. if they wanted verification it should have been done before they shipped and activiated the card, not by fouling up ones financial status by shuting dow the card and extorting info from the cardholder. i again had to reorganize my e payments and cancilled the card. the idiots at chase who ship and activate a card without previous verication ought to be fired. very bad business practices. getting the card ended up being a big pain.

Requested a check for the credit built into my cashbuilder account. Told to wait till my first anniversary. Called again, and a check promised. Called again, and a check promised. Called again and told that I would now have to wait another year. What a Mickey Mouse outfit. If I ever get my $200 check, I will cancel my card so fast, it will make your head spin. Problem is, Chase must know it and is not sending my rebate check. Absolutely the worst customer service in the world. Try Citibank to experience what it should be.
