The Discover® Card for Students is a credit card that is designed to meet the needs of students that are looking for a rewards based credit card. This card is issued by Morgan Stanley, and the rewards program offered on the card comes in the form of cash rebates on purchases made with the credit card. Cardholder can earn up to two percent, with a minimum rebate of 0.25 percent – the exact rebate earned will depend upon where the purchase was made and how much was spent on the card.
Cardholders do not have to pay any annual fee for this credit card, and cards are available at no extra cost for additional cardholders. There is also a twenty-five day grace period offered on this credit card. As well as the rewards program, there are some other benefits available with this credit card, such as discounts at selected merchants and retailers, fraud and security protection, protection against unauthorized transactions, a choice of credit card designs, and the availability of online account management.
There are a number of fees attached to this credit card. For cardholders that exceed their credit limit, a charge of between $15 and $35 is applied. Late payment fees are charged at between $15 and $39 depending on the balance of the credit card. Fees of either three percent or five dollars are applied to cash advances and balance transfer transactions, with a maximum fee of $50 on balance transfers.
This card has a minimum credit limit of $500. The standard interest rate charged on purchases is 16.99 percent variable, and cash advance charges stand at 22.99 percent variable.
