Our Review of Jet Blue Card from American Express

The JetBlue Card from American Express is an airline reward credit card that is ideal for those with fairly good credit standing who travel frequently with JetBlue Airways. JetBlue has airlines all over the United States and offers multiple itineraries and destinations to their travelers. There are three card designs available for the JetBlue card, which are inspired by the JetBlue airplane tailfins.

With the JetBlue card, cardholders are automatically enrolled in TrueBlue, the JetBlue frequent flier program. Members will have the ability to earn one Award Dollar for their TrueBlue account for each dollar spent on their credit card. Dollars spent on JetBlue flights earn double Award Dollars, as do purchases spent on certain entertainment pursuits including restaurants, movie theaters, sporting events, golf courses, performing arts events, and gym memberships. 200 Award Dollars will equal one TrueBlue point, and 100 accumulated TrueBlue point’s equal one round trip flight anywhere TrueBlue Airways travels.

After the first purchase with the card, the member will receive a bonus of 5,000 Award Dollars, which amounts to 25 TrueBlue points towards the 100 points needed for a free round trip ticket. TrueBlue points and awards expire after one year. There is, however, no limit to how many Award Dollars can be earned in a certain amount of time. Points can be redeemed over the telephone through the TrueBlue members program.

In addition to the airline miles rewards, the JetBlue Card from American Express is a platinum card and offers members the same standard benefits offered by other platinum credit cards. These include zero liability for unauthorized charges, extended warranties on purchases, car rental loss and damage insurance, emergency card replacement, and travel and medical assistance services. Most of these benefits are standard to platinum cards and offer the cardholder a convenient advantage in addition to the rewards program

The JetBlue card has an annual fee of $40, which is comparable to other airline rewards cards at this level. There is a 3.99% fixed introductory APR for the first six billing cycles, and a standard variable APR after that. Those with fairly solid credit ratings will be able to receive fairly low APR and higher credit limits with this card.

For those who use or plan to use JetBlue airlines for a significant amount of travel, the JetBlue Card from American Express is an good tool. It offers a simple way to accumulate the frequent flier miles that can make those flights cost much less in the long run. A cardholder with solid credit who keeps his account in good standing to avoid higher finance charges, and who takes full advantage of the airline miles awarded, will benefit most from this credit card.
