Our Review of Marathon® Platinum MasterCard® from Chase

The Marathon® Platinum MasterCard® is a credit card issued by Chase, and is designed to meet the needs of people with a good credit rating and history. This credit card is ideal for those that tend to purchase Marathon gasoline on a regular basis. This is because the Marathon® Platinum MasterCard® is a rewards credit card and offers a five percent rebate on Marathon purchases. This credit card also offers a one percent rebate on general purchases, with all rebates being debited directly to the credit card account. As a bonus, the first two months of use will net cardholders a ten percent rebate on Marathon purchases.

This credit card offers an introductory nine month period of 0% interest on balance transfers. There is also a twenty dollar annual fee, but as long as you make nine Marathon purchases within each twelve months period, Chase will waive this fee. There is a standard variable rate, listed on the table above, on new purchases on this credit card, and cash advances have an interest rate of 21.49 percent variable.

Chase charges a fee of between $15 and $39 on late repayments made on this credit card, with the exact figure based on the balance of your credit card. If you exceed the credit limit, there is also a fee, which currently stands at $35. If you want to take a cash advance on this card, you will pay a minimum of ten dollars or a maximum of three percent, and for balance transfers you will be charged at a minimum of five dollars or three percent, with a maximum of $75.

As well as benefiting from the rebates on purchases, cardholder can also expect a range of other benefits with this card, some of which include: protection against fraudulent transactions, purchase protection, extended warranties, travel and car rental insurance, roadside assistance, emergency card and cash replacement, and online account services.

Credit Cards Info user review:

FYI-Marathon Platinum thru Chase Bank now gives you rewards in the form of gift cards. Your monthly amount towards your 0rebate expires each month, so if you have awards coming to you (say $21.00) and you don't get up to the $25 amount (minimum gift card amount) in the billing period, you lose the rebate. We are switching cards partially because of this and partly because we want a diesel car and our local Marathon doesn't offer diesel fuel.
