Our Review of The Value Miles(SM) Platinum Visa® Card

The Chase Value Miles Platinum credit card is an airline rewards card issued by Visa. This card is best suited to those with good credit history, offering them a variable APR of around 11.99% or lower. The Chase Value Miles Platinum card, like many other airline rewards cards in its category, allows the cardholder to collect airline miles with each purchase. The Chase Value Miles Platinum card rewards you with one airline travel mile for every dollar spent on general purchases, up to $4000 a month or $40,000 per year. 24,000 value miles will earn you a ticket to anywhere in the continental United States. The value miles are good at any major airline, including American, Delta, United, and Continental; however, these miles cannot be combined with frequent flier programs and they expire if unused after three years. There are no blackout dates for flights using your value miles.

Although terms can vary depending on the credit record of the applicant, the Chase Value Miles Platinum card generally offers a 0% introductory annual percentage rate for the first 12 billing cycles. After the first year, depending on your credit, the card offers variable APRs that are reasonably low compared to some of the other airline rewards cards on the market. One large benefit of this card is the fact that it has no annual fee. Another stand-out feature, and one very important to many credit card seekers, is that the Chase Value Miles Platinum card has a 20 day grace period. This is the amount of time after your statement is issued but before the balance is due, during which interest does not collect on the new charges.

The credit limit of the Chase Value Miles Platinum card is variable, depending on your credit rating. The highest available credit limit is $100,000. Applicants with low credit scores or less credit history may be turned down or may receive a card with a balance as low as $500.

A large advantage of this credit card are the platinum member benefits that are available. Cardholders will receive a number of travel-related benefits, including up to $500,000 travel insurance, car rental insurance, lost card reporting, emergency cash delivery, and more.

For those with strong credit history and an interest in accumulating free airline miles for business or pleasure, this card offers a solid option. The 0% APR for the first year, reasonably low APR thereafter, and lack of an annual fee are all definite advantages. Compared to other airline mile reward cards, this card offers a flexible rewards plan where the benefits of use are very obtainable.
